Jakarta (ANTARA) - Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas will welcome the head of the worldwide Catholic Church, Pope Francis, on arrival at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Banten, on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi stated.

"No (pick him up), the minister of religious affairs will do it. Tomorrow, I will accompany him to the meeting," Marsudi remarked when met at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The minister said she would accompany President Joko Widodo during the state visit of Pope Francis at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, including a meeting with the diplomatic corps on Wednesday.

Archbishop of Jakarta Ignatius Suharyo Hardjoatmodjo remarked that he and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Visit of the Holy Father Pope Francis, Ignasius Jonan, would also leave for Soekarno-Hatta Airport to welcome the arrival of Pope Francis.

Pope Francis will arrive in Indonesia on Tuesday afternoon at around 11:30 WIB at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

"(Welcoming) the entourage from the Vatican. We will go to the airport to welcome them now," Suharyo remarked.

He stated that preparations for Pope Francis' visit to Indonesia on September 3-6 had been well-planned.

Suharyo also extended a welcome to the Holy Father Pope Francis in Jakarta.

"We just want to say welcome to Jakarta. Hopefully, everything goes well," he remarked.
