Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka said he is monitoring the situation in several regions, especially the homecoming exodus and tourist destinations, during the year-end holidays.

On the sidelines of observing a Christmas celebration in Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday, he stated that he continues to receive reports from ministries, including the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture.

"President Prabowo has emphasized the issue of congestion at several homecoming exodus points and tourist destinations," he said in a video uploaded by his office on YouTube.

During the holidays, several toll roads have been opened to anticipate congestion, he added.

"Hopefully, everyone's homecoming trips will go smoothly. Everyone must maintain their health and stay safe," Gibran said.

He reminded people planning to return to their hometowns or go on leisure trips to be careful.

The Ministry of Transportation predicts that 110.6 million people across Indonesia will travel during the year-end holidays.
