Jakarta (ANTARA) - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with China during a bilateral meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Sunday.

“Indonesia is ready to create a secure and prosperous region. We are ready to strengthen cooperation with China so that together we can build a peaceful region, and safe for all,” said President Subianto.

The President expressed Indonesia’s readiness to create a secure and prosperous regional environment and to deepen its cooperation with China in order to realize a peaceful and safe region for all parties.

In efforts to maintain regional stability, President Subianto stated that Indonesia would continue to support and accelerate the conclusion of negotiations on the Code of Conduct (CoC). He emphasized that China is a crucial partner in this process.

On maritime security, the head of state welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) and the China Coast Guard.

“This MoU will enhance cooperation in capacity building, information development, and maritime safety,” he stated.

President Subianto received Premier Li Qiang for an official visit at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Sunday, as part of the Chinese leader’s three-day visit to Indonesia.

Several ministers who accompanied President Prabowo during the welcoming ceremony included Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.

Then, Chairman of the National Economic Council Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, and Head of the State Intelligence Agency Muhammad Herindra.

Also in attendance were Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Stella Christie, Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir, and Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun.

The meeting reflected the commitment of both countries to deepen and enhance bilateral relations between Indonesia and China, as well as strengthening cooperation across various strategic sectors.
