The villages—Jlamprang, Kuripan, and Margosari—are all located in Wonosobo District, Central Java, Karding stated at the inauguration event, as stated by the Ministry of P2MI, here on Wednesday.
"This Migrant Workers' Golden Village is the result of mutual cooperation among all stakeholders in a village to provide protection services for Indonesian migrant workers," the minister remarked.
Those three villages are projected to serve as models for managing worker migration in a safe and legal manner and are expected to directly contribute to the economic growth of the villages.
Services offered in these villages include information services, outreach, literacy programs, business assistance, and other resources needed to reduce the illegal departures of migrant workers.
Karding emphasized that the Migrant Workers' Golden Village is a crucial component in establishing structured migrant worker governance at the village level.
"If this is managed well, it can generate large foreign exchange. If this is managed (properly), it can provide benefits. If this is managed (effectively), it can be a blessing for our community," Karding told the village head and local residents.
He cited Bumidaya Village in Palas Sub-District, South Lampung District, Lampung, as a role model. Of the two thousand residents in the village, around 250 work in Taiwan and send regular remittances of up to Rp500 million (US$30.6 million) per month to the village.
"Why is this possible? Because there is a migrant ecosystem managed collectively by the village head, village officials, and the community. That is what we must emulate," he remarked.
Karding noted that remittance funds could be used to improve family welfare, strengthen the local economy, and even boost regional income if managed properly.
The minister also invited all parties—from local governments and village officials to the community —to work together to ensure safe and procedural migration management.
"We want everyone to be able to work abroad legally. Therefore, we need to work together, from upstream in the village to downstream in the destination country," he remarked.
