"Our support to Palestine may be raised (during UNGA 80)," ministry spokesperson Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela stated in response to queries from ANTARA on Wednesday.
However, he could not divulge further details as the Foreign Ministry continues finalising what issues or talking points Indonesia will raise for this year's UNGA.
"We are finalising it," Mulachela said.
President Prabowo Subianto will address the 80th Session of UNGA at the UN Headquarters in September 2025, according to the Presidential Communication Office (PCO).
PCO Chief Hasan Nasbi said that President Prabowo is scheduled to speak at the UNGA's General Debate on September 23, 2025, following Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and United States President Donald Trump.
"The president will present his remarks on the first day (of UNGA General Debate), the third in line on September 23," Nasbi stated on Tuesday (August 26).
The PCO head did not respond to questions about issues or points that Prabowo would highlight in his remarks. He instead encouraged residents to watch the president's speech on the day it was given.
When Prabowo delivers his remarks in September, he will become the first Indonesian president to speak at the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in over a decade after the absence of his predecessor, Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
During his 10-year tenure, Jokowi opted not to attend the UNGA in person, consistently delegating Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi to represent Indonesia at the forum.
Meanwhile, former deputy foreign minister Dino Patti Djalal on Monday (August 25) underscored the "significant diplomatic weight" that President Prabowo is bearing for being the third leader to speak at UNGA this year.
Djalal also believed Prabowo's statements and viewpoint would be a matter of interest for all sides of the global community, from Western and developed countries to developing countries belonging to the Global South.
