Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Ambassador to the United States Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo called on the Indonesian diaspora to continue playing an active role in strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

"I hope our diaspora can continue to play an active role in bridging friendship and cooperation between the Indonesian people and the United States," Soesilo said in a press release from the Embassy on Sunday.

At his welcoming ceremony at his residence on Tilden Street, Soesilo said Washington was a special place for him, as his father had also served as ambassador to the United States from 1986 to 1988.

Nindya Kartikasari, Deputy Chief Representative of the Indonesian Embassy in Washington, accompanied by her husband and two children, was also welcomed. She expressed her honor to undertake her first assignment and become part of the embassy.

"The Indonesian community in the United States is a remarkable network of talents—professionals, academics, artists, and entrepreneurs—whose contributions are invaluable in strengthening the partnership between our two countries," Kartikasari said.

The welcoming ceremony for the two newly appointed officials was warmly attended by the Indonesian community and diaspora from the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia.

The Indonesian Embassy is committed to fostering closer ties, strengthening relations between Indonesia and the United States, and promoting people-to-people contact as an important foundation of bilateral relations.

Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo was appointed Indonesian Ambassador to the United States by President Prabowo Subianto on August 25, 2025, filling a position that had been vacant for more than two years.
