“Between October 2024 and October 2025, the Polri uncovered 49,306 drug cases involving 66,572 suspects,” Polri Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said during a drug destruction event in South Jakarta on Wednesday.
In the presence of President Prabowo, he noted that the police had confiscated a total of 214.84 tons of narcotics over the past year. The seized substances included 186.7 tons of marijuana, 9.2 tons of methamphetamine, 1.9 tons of synthetic “gorilla” tobacco, and 2.1 million ecstasy pills.
Other confiscated drugs comprised 13.1 million hard drug pills, 27.9 kilograms of ketamine, 34.5 kilograms of cocaine, 6.8 kilograms of heroin, 5.5 kilograms of tetrahydrocannabinol, 18 liters of etomidate, 132.9 kilograms of hashish, 1.4 million happy five pills, and 39.7 kilograms of happy water.
“If converted into monetary value, the total drugs seized are worth Rp29.37 trillion (around US$1.8 billion),” General Prabowo revealed.
He emphasized that without firm law enforcement, such massive drug circulation could endanger hundreds of millions of people.
“We at the Polri remain committed to strengthening efforts against drug abuse through enhanced preventive measures and professional law enforcement,” he affirmed.
The general further reported that police had successfully assisted 118 of 228 drug-prone villages to overcome narcotics issues by establishing counseling posts and conducting regular anti-drug education programs in collaboration with local authorities.
He also highlighted assistance programs for drug abuse victims, including social reintegration and vocational training to help them rebuild their lives.
President Prabowo was accompanied at the event by Deputy Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Otto Hasibuan, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas, and Immigration and Corrections Minister Agus Andrianto, among others.
