KPK would not hesitate to name a suspect if it has enough evidence."Medan, North Sumatra (ANTARA News) - The fate of Agriculture Minister Suswono in the beef import scandal will depend on information to surface in the trial of suspects Luthfi Hasan Ishaaq, former president of the Prosperous and Justice Party and his aide Ahmad Fathanah, Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Abraham Samad said.
Suswono has been implicated in the case but he is not yet named a suspect.
KPK needs strong evidence to name a suspect, Abraham told reporters after an anti corruption pledge was read out at an Asia Pacific Economic meeting here on Monday.
KPK has summoned Suswono several times for questioning about his role in the beef import scandal.
Suswono has been known to attends a meeting of suspects in the case in Medan before the case broke out to the open.
As for the status of Suswono a decision will be made after Luthfi and Ahmad Fanatah will testify in the court, Abrahaman Samad said.
He refused to comment if Suswono would likely be named a new suspect, saying "KPK would not hesitate to name a suspect if it has enough evidence."
KPK already named five suspects in the case including Luthfi Hasan Ishaaq, Ahmad Fathanah, and Maria Elizabeth Liman, the chief executive of PT Indoguna Utama, a beef importer, and two of her directors Juard Effendi and Arya Abdi Effendi.
