Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s keenness to export food and beverage products to Hungary was apparent from its participation in Sirha Budapest 2020 held in Hungary on Feb 4-6, 2020.

The country managed to clock potential transactions worth US$3.5 million at the expo, Oke Nurwan, secretary general of the Ministry of Trade, noted in a statement here on Wednesday.

Indonesia's participation in the expo was result of collaboration between the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in Budapest and the Indonesian Embassy in Budapest.

The Indonesian Pavilion occupied an area of 75 square meters and featured 10 Indonesian companies engaged in the production of food and beverage.

The 10 companies were PT Rukun Mapan Bersama (RMB Food), PT Mulia Boga Raya Tbk, PT Rezeki Inthi Artha (Wilmond), PT Pondan Pangan Makmur Indonesia, PT Olaga Food Industry, Indraco Group, CV Hitara Cipta Selaras, PT Mayora Indah Tbk , PT Agro Asia Berdikari, and 1Rétköz-Pack Bt, the official distributor of PT Sambu Indonesia.

They showcased various products comprising coffee sweets, coffee biscuits, wafers, crackers, crisps, processed cheese products and mayonnaise, canned tuna, instant noodles, coffee, chocolate drinks, coconut milk and coconut water products, garlic products, cashews, coconut sugar, and baking ingredients for cakes and pudding.

Sirha Budapest, a major international event organized every two years, is attended by over 300 companies engaged in the food and beverage industry, hotel, restaurant and catering (horeka), gastronomy, and packaging industries from Hungary and other countries.

"Through this exhibition, foreign buyers and visitors are expected to become more familiar with Indonesian products and are keen to do business directly with Indonesian companies," Head of ITPC Budapest Addy Perdana explained.

The biennial event most recently attracted 21,500 professional visitors to the HUNGEXPO Budapest Congress and Exhibition Center.

Moreover, the trade exhibition featured numerous conferences, demonstrations, and over 300 exhibitors showcasing their products, services, and innovations across an area of over 30 thousand square meters. Related news: President Jokowi receives Hungarian Prime Minister
