Lewoleba, East Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry is offering three types of business development coaching in Flores, Alor, Lembata, and Bima (Floratama) areas through the 2023 Floratama Academy.

"There are three categories — those being seed for new businesses, growth, and community-based— in the third batch of the Floratama Academy in 2023," Director of Industry and Institutions at the Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority Neysa Amelia informed.

She made the remarks at the kick-off webinar of the 2023 Floratama Academy, which was followed online from Lewoleba, Lembata, East Nusa Tenggara, on Monday.

Seed coaching will involve guiding new businesses in the area, she said.

The guidance, which will be provided to at least 20 businesses that have opted for the coaching, will cover topics such as business models, product development, as well as market access, Amelia added.

Growth coaching will involve guidance for local businesses that have been active for two years or more, she informed.

This type of coaching will cover new product innovation, operational evaluation, production capacity improvement, to opportunities for collaboration with third parties.

Meanwhile, community-based coaching will be extended to village- or community-based business organizations that are active in the region, Amelia stated.

Under this category, participants will get to learn more about the management of business organizations and development planning, she added.

"Here, we will focus on good impacts toward people and the surrounding environment in the Floratama area," Amelia explained.

She underlined that the 2023 Floratama Academy is helping business units pursue development targets in a bid to promote Labuan Bajo as a national tourism priority destination.

The goal of the event is to provide access and funding for business players as well as educate human resources so as to create a better tourism and creative economy ecosystem, she said.

“The Floratama Academy also aims to provide additional job vacancies and network opportunities between startups, as well as raise tourism awareness among the Labuan Bajo Flores people,” she elaborated.

The workshop and mentoring session for the seed category will be hosted on June 2023, the growth category in July, and the community-based category in August.
