Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police (Polri) has prepared a centralized operational plan for securing the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta, including deploying eight task forces.

"The standard for securing activities, such as the summit, is already set. The National Police have prepared a centralized operational plan, led by the chief of the National Police's Security Maintenance Agency and assisted by eight task forces," Police Chief's Assistant for Operations, Inspector General Verdianto I. Bitticaca, stated at the Merdeka Barat 9 Forum Road to ASEAN Summit 2023: Security Preparation on Friday.

He remarked that the eight task forces are the Preemptive Task Force, Preventive Task Force, Action Task Force, Traffic Route Task Force, Public Relations Task Force, Operational Assistance Task Force, Law Enforcement Task Force, and Anti-Terror Task Force.

According to Bitticaca, the operation plan has been prepared on the basis of the experience of securing the G20 Summit in Bali and the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo.

The 43rd ASEAN Summit will be held at the Jakarta Convention Center on September 5-7, 2023, and attended by 11 ASEAN members, including Timor-Leste, which will be represented by Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao, and nine ASEAN dialogue partners as well as member countries of the East Asia Summit (EAS).

Furthermore, the centralized operation plan had been prepared with the involvement of various elements, including the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI), as well as the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), and the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), he remarked.

Bitticaca elaborated that the operational plan will be divided into three stages, namely the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the post-implementation stage.

During the preparatory phase, Bitticaca said Polri will conduct various activities, starting from coordination with the TNI and other relevant agencies, mapping threats, procuring equipment and supplies, and training the personnel.

In the implementation stage, the National Police will deploy full force to secure the 43rd ASEAN Summit. The Polri had readied 6,182 personnel involved in the security, who will be placed at various strategic points in Jakarta and two buffer zones, he remarked.

"The personnel involved in this Tri Brata Jaya Operation consist of 6,182 personnel and will be placed in Jakarta and two buffer areas, namely West Java and Banten," he noted.

Similar to TNI, the Polri will also use various defense equipment to support the security of the 43 ASEAN Summit, ranging from light to heavy defense equipment, he added.
