Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Environmental Service (DLH) collected 130 tons of waste during the 2024 New Year celebrations in the capital city, marking the highest volume ever recorded by the office.

"Especially along the Sudirman-Thamrin Road, where we collected 32 tons of waste," said Head of the Jakarta DLH, Asep Kuswanto, adding that this figure surpasses the previous record of 125 tons set in 2019.

He said that 3,180 cleaning officers have been deployed to manage waste from last night's celebration.

"Cleaning officers are divided into four shifts without stopping," Kuswanto remarked.

He said that he instructed them to clear all waste by 4:00 local time.

The waste would be transported to be processed at the landfill to be reduced, reused, and recycled, he added.
