Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka introduced his Chinese counterpart Han Zheng to typical Indonesian foods during a luncheon at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday. According to a statement released by the Vice Presidential Secretariat here, the luncheon menu comprised salted egg breadfruit, otak-otak or grilled fish cakes, tender crabs served with pomelo, sampyok grilled chicken, Manokwari grilled grouper fish, and torch ginger fried rice.

The secretariat said that the luncheon served as a gastrodiplomatic means employed by Indonesia to promote the appeal of its cuisine.

Han commended Indonesian cuisine, saying that the dishes Gibran introduced were rich in spices.

The two leaders and their aides gathered for the luncheon after a bilateral dialogue in the audience room, where the Chinese VP told his Indonesian counterpart that Chinese President Xi Jinping is looking forward to broadening cooperation with Indonesia under its new government.

During the meeting, they also mutually conveyed their commitment to solidify Indonesia and China's strategic partnership to welcome the 75th anniversary of bilateral ties next year.

To that end, Gibran and Han agreed on the importance of stepping up cooperation between their nations, especially in the economic sector and human resource development.
