"We also share similar views on many issues, especially on ensuring peace, stability, and prosperity in the region," he stated at a joint press conference with Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Prabowo welcomed Wong at the Merdeka Palace, marking the first official visit from a foreign leader he has hosted since his inauguration as Indonesian president on October 20.
"This visit is very meaningful, as it is the first official visit I have received from a foreign guest since my inauguration as president of Indonesia," Prabowo remarked.
He expressed hope that Wong’s visit would serve as momentum to further strengthen cooperation, especially in strategic and important sectors for both countries.
Prabowo mentioned that he had previously held a bilateral meeting with the prime minister on his inauguration day at the Merdeka Palace.
Before becoming president, Prabowo had met with Wong twice during his tenure as Indonesia’s defense minister.
Wong, in turn, described his visit as special, noting that it was his first official visit to Indonesia as prime minister.
"It is my first official visit to Indonesia as prime minister, and I am honored to be President Prabowo's first official guest as well," Wong remarked.
He expressed gratitude to Prabowo for hosting him so soon after his inauguration.
According to a press release from his office, Wong's visit reaffirms Singapore’s commitment to strengthening its friendship with Indonesia and provides an opportunity for both leaders to discuss ways to deepen bilateral ties.
