This was conveyed by director of human capital and general affairs at BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, Abdur Rahman Irsyadi, at the launch of a book on social insurance in Jakarta on Thursday.
"The government is targeting 57 million for 2025. Currently, it has only covered 43 million. The gap is still quite big. For that reason, we will make acceleration efforts, one of which is related to digital technology utilization," he said.
He informed that BPJS Ketenagakerjaan has a social security application for the public that allows them to directly access information related to workers' social security and register to become a program participant.
"I think that is a positive step," he said.
Meanwhile, chairperson of the National Social Security Council (DJSN), Nunung Nuryartono, said that social security programs for workers, namely work accident insurance, life insurance, old-age insurance, and pension, can make a very important contribution to the economy.
"With the programs, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan will provide a contribution to the economy because they allow workers to be protected and work comfortably. If they can work comfortably, their productivity will increase," he added.
According to Nuryartono, social insurance for workers is important to protect formal and informal workers, considering that the workforce in Indonesia is increasing every year.
"Workers' social insurance as an ecosystem that is also mandated by the Constitution becomes very strategic to cover all Indonesian workers," he added.
