Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned construction firm PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP) is accelerating the development of Section 3 of the Probowangi Toll Road Project, which is now 79.13 percent complete and is expected to be ready within the deadline of 912 days.

Despite steady progress, one of the main challenges to the project’s development is that the toll road route intersects the high-voltage Java-Bali transmission line, PTPP corporate secretary Joko Raharjo informed.

“Our project team successfully relocated several inter-island transmission towers through close cross-sector coordination. This reflects PTPP’s technical capabilities and synergy in handling complex field challenges,” he said in a statement issued from Jakarta on Thursday.

He added that the Rp4.07 trillion project is not just about building a road, but opening a new economic corridor on the eastern tip of Java Island.

Stretching from Probolinggo to Banyuwangi, the toll road is expected to reduce travel time between regions, cut logistics costs, and enhance integration between industrial zones and top tourism destinations in East Java.

Raharjo further said that construction technology innovation has been a key advantage of the project.

For instance, PTPP is using the Modified Modular Barrier Formwork System, a high-precision, cost-efficient method to mold concrete that allows for repeated use and quick installation, for the project.

Additionally, the project has pioneered the use of mountain stone fill material in the toll road’s structure -- an innovation not previously applied in any toll road project in Indonesia.

The project has received the 2025 QHSE Award, recognizing its adherence to Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental principles throughout construction.

“With measurable performance, innovation, and a sustainability focus, PTPP continues to prove its role as a strategic partner to the government in building a better Indonesia -- starting with real connectivity from the western to eastern ends of the country,” Raharjo added.
